Opening for Jeff Brown & the New Black

  • Martyrs' 3855 North Lincoln Avenue Chicago, IL, 60613 United States (map)

Music to keep you warm. Tickets $8 in advance here / $10 at the door.

Sharing the stage with some of Chicago's finest, including:

Cobalt & the Hired Guns
The repertoire for this five-to-twelve piece from Chicago has been described as Americana, Punky Pop, or just Good Ol’ Fashioned Rock n’ Roll. They’ve been compared to The Hold Steady, The Clash, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, The Fratellis, Frightened Rabbit, Backyard Tire Fire, and “Wilco on Xanax covering The Clash”

Jeff Brown & the New Black
In the fashion world, when something is the new ‘in’ thing that everyone loves and wants, it is often termed “The New Black”. Jeff Brown & company hope that bleeds over to the music industry as well. Fueled largely by whiskey and questionable romantic decisions, and featuring Jeff Brown on vocals and guitars, Eric Stafford on guitars, Ben Winter on bass, and Marke Lester on drums and vocals, the group blends vocal harmony, catchy hooks, insightful lyrics, and a healthy heap of rock swagger.

Also, it's Jeff's Birthday...

Liz & the Lovelies
Liz Chidester, originally from the mountains of Virginia, moved to Chicago by train in the winter of 2013. Since then, she has become involved in the Chicago music scene, performing in various venues, variety showcases, and festivals across Chicago.

Liz is a teaching artist at the Old Town School of Folk Music, Sherwood Music School, and the Columbia College After-School Program.

Liz was a Midwest Finalist in NPR's NewSong Songwriting Compeition 2014, nominated for Best Female Vocalist in the Chicago Music Awards 2015, and a finalist in the NewSong Singer-Songwriter Competition 2016.
